However, I was not able to figure out how to flag my WiFi Direct wireless monitor as trusted like I can for the regular WiFi wireless networks I can flag as private. Update the display graphics driver Right-click on the Start Menu then tap on the Device Manager Option. Enter the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter (60), which commands a high price but does exactly what it promises to do. I don't want any inbound ports open on public networks. But in our tests at Toms Guide, we found the process to be nightmarish. My understanding is the Wireless Display operates on WiFi Direct. Upon researching the issue, I got it to work again after adjusting the windows firewall as follows:Įnable the inbound rule named "Wireless Display (TCP-In)" for public networks. After doing that, I could no longer connect to my Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. Ive tested three different adapters on two different models of TV, and the issue occurs on every one. The display adapters splash screen ouputs full screen, but as soon as I connect a laptop, it shrinks down to what you see above. I was locking down my laptop, closing all incoming ports on public networks. The resolution on the TV shows as 1920x1080, as does the resolution set in Windows. ![]()
